Assess, Analyse & Manage Risk
This course can be attended by specialist child protection practitioners as core training. These practitioners are not required to attend the Group 3 course. The course is appropriate for anyone involved in assessment.
Outcomes:
- Be able to carry out an assessment of risk using appropriate tools, including the Framework of Assessment and the DSCB Assessment of Need Tool
- Develop and test hypotheses
- Have skills in analysing information
- Identify outcomes and draw up plan of action
- Consider issues of difference and diversity
- Use professional judgements to make decisions as to whether a child is suffering or is likely to suffer significant harm, including in complex cases or where emergency action is needed
- Know how to differentiate issues for types of harm
- Have knowledge of the pitfalls identified in lessons from serious case reviews, including issues of professional dangerousness
- Know the importance of analytic and intuitive reasoning, and using this alongside assessment tools in supervision.

Assessing, Analysing and Managing Risk in Safeguarding Children for Group 3 and 4
Register in the name attending the course. Do not register your details if you are registering for someone else. As part of the registration process you will need to create a user name and password.

Early Years:
When requested to complete your ‘Organisation’ details you will need to type in Early Years and not your setting as all individual settings will not be listed.
Schools:
Please enter your Full Finest Code eg E10 1234 etc.……….. where a cost code is requested.
GPs/Dentists:
When registering your work details as a new user please type in the Organisation box the following (GP or Dentist) and click Search and the drop down box underneath will list the Organisation GP surgery or Devon Dentist. Individual surgery names are not listed.
