Children and Young People
This page has been put together for children and young people and may be useful to you or your friends.
The role of the Devon Safeguarding Children Board is to make sure that children and young people in Devon know how to keep themselves safe at home, at school and when out and about.
If you are experiencing something that does not make you feel safe or is making you unhappy, tell a trusted family member. If you are worried about a family member or a friend of the family tell an adult that you feel you can trust, tell them that you are unhappy and what’s worrying you. This might be someone like a school teacher. They will know what to do and will help you.
How can you keep yourself and your friends safe
- Do not talk to strangers
- Do not take gifts from people you do not know
- Tell someone you trust if someone is making you feel uncomfortable
- Shout loudly if someone is asking you to do something you are not happy about
- Never leave home without telling your parents or the people caring for you where you are going
- If you go out with your friends make sure you stay together even if you fall out
- Tell someone if you are being bullied
- Do not arrange to meet someone face to face that you have talked to on the internet, or through text messages, anonymous mobile phone calls unless you have a trusted adult with you
