Be on the safe side

HandsEvery day teachers, firefighters, youth workers, nurses, police officers, social workers, volunteers, family members and many others support children, young people and their families to make life choices which help to keep them safe from harm or neglect.

Staff from all the professional groups belong to the Devon Safeguarding Children Board; which supports the work done in Devon to keep children safe and make sure that everyone understands their own personal or professional responsibility to protect children.

From 21 November 2011, we are promoting the be on the safe side message and want you to get involved. If you, your staff or the children and families you work with are planning any activity which will promote better, safer life choices, then please let us know. The be on the safe side message embraces all aspects of raising awareness of safer living; from internet use to road safety. Using the review form below we would like you to tell us about any activities you have done.

Beginning 21 November 2011, Devon will be raising awareness of domestic violence and abuse and will be running an online Devon staff safeguarding survey for people who work with children. There will also be national campaigns on school bullying and road safety.

Below are links to the resources to help get you started, including the Be on the safe side review form to tell us what you have been doing.
